Feedback from the British Red Cross

September 11, 2014adminFeedbackNo Comments

“We are delighted to work in partnership with The Refugee Law Clinic at Sheffield Hallam University. The support they have provided for refugees to be able to make applications for refugee family reunion has been invaluable. We have struggled for many years to ensure refugees can obtain free, impartial advice to make family reunion applications due to the removal of legal aid. The process is complicated and expensive and we are delighted that the Law Clinic has been able to support a number of refugees to complete applications successfully. This in turn has allowed refugees their human right to family life. The Clinic

has helped to bring children and other dependant family members from wars and conflict areas to the UK using a safe and legal route

Our activity

The Refugee Family Reunion Law Clinic was established in light of the refugee crisis, the implications of the removal of legal aid in 2013 (the Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012), the collapse of the Northern Refugee Council, and as reputable legal firms specialising in immigration and asylum advice working with young people had collapsed or had left the sector.
